Gum disease can start with slight signs of bleeding, or small areas of swelling and redness, which are not easily recognised, and may develop into periodontitis (gum disease with bone loss and the supporting structures). Periodontitis can run a gradual and painless course, and bad breath, recession, loose teeth, in some cases painful gums, and in severe disease loss of teeth can occur.
Getting treatment early can help save teeth that are at risk from gum disease and other conditions. Our periodontists will examine the patient’s condition and discuss the treatment options.
